Toddlers

"Discovery Zone"

From first words to first steps, Toddlers are busy exploring, learning, and discovering the world around them. Our curriculum provides the perfect complement of learning opportunities to engage their attention and encourage their natural curiosity. We believe in a balanced day for your child. We create the perfect mix between quiet and active times, large and small group learning, child-initiated activities, and teacher-facilitated activities to create a day full of learning and fun! Our unique learning environment is designed to support Toddler development and promote independence.

Our Staff

Mrs. Karen (Teacher)

My job here at ITAVA is assisting the teachers with the growth, education and care of your precious little people. I started this adventure six years ago at Tipton Academy as a cook/kitchen server. At the end of my sixth year at Tipton I was offered this wonderful opportunity to come to ITAVA to cook. I was recently given the opportunity to work with the infants/toddlers and decided this is where I want to be, helping in the classrooms. I am a lifelong Garden City resident and married to my best friend! We have three beautiful children.

Mrs. Kathleen (Assistant Teacher)

I have been happily married for 20 years. We have 2 beautiful daughters. Kia who is 30 and Sydney who is 19. We have a 7 month old son named Griffin. I have worked in retail management, I've also done receptionist work and I have worked in the reprographics department at Ford Motor Company. I enjoy working with children because I love watching them explore and discover new things. A child's laugh warms my heart and there's no better feeling than a hug from a child.

Miss. Alexys (Assistant Teacher)

I was born and raised in Garden City. I graduated from Garden City High School in 2013. I have taken some Early Childhood classes at Schoolcraft and I'm currently working on my CDA. I have 5 years experience of working within Early Childhood. I really enjoy what I do! I mostly work with toddlers and I look forward to seeing all the kids smiling faces every day. One fun fact about me is that I am the second oldest of 8 siblings!

Miss. Melissa (Assistant Teacher)

I started working in childcare in June of 2018 at Christus Victor Learning Center and moved to It Takes A Village Academy in September of 2019. As the oldest in my family, I've been able to work with my cousins, nieces, and nephews. I've always had a passion for working with children and I love to see how their little minds work. My favorite part of being a teacher is watching and helping them as they hit more and more milestones, and how they always surprise me with how well they're doing! be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light" -Albus Dumbledore

Ms. Sharon (Assistant Teacher)
